NFLIS Data Dashboards

The NDEWS Coordinating Center has created interactive data dashboards using DEA data on drugs identified by Federal, State, and local forensic laboratories reported to the DEA’s National Forensic Laboratory Information System (NFLIS). The dashboards include a wealth of information and allow the user to easily look at data across sites and across years.

National & Regional-Level data dashboards are based on national estimates of the most frequently identified drugs from 2007 to 2017. National- & regional-level dashboards include:

  • National estimates of the most frequently identified drugs, from 2007 to 2017
  • Trends of the most frequently identified drugs from 2007 to 2017, nationwide and by U.S. Census Region

State-Level data dashboards are based on State counts for the most frequently identified drugs, fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances, synthetic cannabinoids, and synthetic cathinones. State counts are unweighted and unadjusted counts of drugs recorded and submitted by State and local laboratories. State-level dashboards include:

  • State counts of the most frequently identified drugs, by State and year;
  • State counts of drug reports for 3 Drug Categories (Fentanyls, Synthetic Cannabinoids, and Synthetic Cathinones), by States, Category Select, and year
  • Maps showing quintile and interval classification of drug report counts and drug category report counts across State, by year
  • Heat maps comparing ranks of top 25 most frequently identified drugs from 2007 to 2017, by State
  • Heat maps showing the number of different drugs in each of 3 NPS categories across States and years

Sentinel Community Site (SCS)-Level Dashboards are based on SCS Site counts of drug rerports, fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances, 2C Phenethylamines, Piperzines, synthetic cannabinoids, synthetic cathinones, and Tryptamines. SCS site counts are unweighted and unadjusted counts of reports of drugs recorded and submitted by State and local laboratories. SCS-level dashboards include:

  • SCS site counts of drug reports by rank, opioid category, NPS category, SCS site, and year
  • Comparison of ranks for top 25 drugs across years (within site) and across sites
  • Maps showing drug report counts and drug category report counts across SCS Sites, by year
  • NPS drug reports across sites, by category
