On August 29th, The Washington Post reported on a sudden spate of heroin overdoses within a short period of time. It was suspected that heroin cut with elephant tranquilizer may have caused 60 overdoses across two states in just 48 hours previously. Law enforcement officials have been unable to track down the source of the toxic mix of heroin involved with these overdoses, but they believe that the overdoses could have been caused by a single batch laced with carfentanil.
