HHS is looking to address the number of adverse drug events that crop up with use of diabetes drugs, opioid pain relievers, and medications that prevent blood clots. On the to-do list: Get doctors and patients information about how to prevent adverse events, like making sure not to take two drugs that interact poorly at the same time. “Given the U.S. population’s large and ever-increasing magnitude of medication exposure, the potential for harms from [adverse events] constitutes a critical patient safety and public health challenge,” the agency’s action plan says. HHS wants to know what the public thinks of those goals — share your thoughts here.
