For example, states west of the Mississippi have the lowest death rate for synthetic opioids. Source data is from the CDC's WONDER database. The Washington Post article discusses the CDC data, sayng "the country is in fact dealing with multiple opioid epidemics right now — each with a distinct geographic footprint."
