Friends Research Institute (FRI), a private, non-profit research organization located in Baltimore, Maryland, invites
applications for two Assistant Research Scientist positions beginning as early as July 1, 2017. FRI is seeking two
highly qualified candidates who have completed a doctoral degree or post-doctoral research program in the social
sciences, medicine, or related fields to assist with NIH-funded research activities. These activities may involve the
following:
 
  • Working directly with FRI researchers on NIDA- and NIAAA-funded projects, developing essential skills to become an independent investigator.
  • Training opportunities that will be tailored, depending on the areas of interest to the candidate, but that will overlap with FRI investigators’ expertise in any of the following areas:
    • Pharmacotherapy (methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone) for opioid use disorders with adults and adolescents;
    • Substance use interventions with criminal justice populations;
    • Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) in health settings;
    • Scale development;
    • The development of technology apps, web-based platforms, and software programs designed to improve public health and reduce health disparities; and
    • Mixed methods research, including implementation research.
